Once again my dear readers, I must catch you up on what I've been up to. This time though, I think I've got a legitimate excuse for not blogging more often. Here goes: :)
It's the kind of sickness you hear about in stories. The kind from which people can die. Thankfully though, there are modern physicians to help us, and so death from pneumonia is now not as common. Thank God.
Heather got pneumonia a little after the 4th of July. She's well on the mend now, but Jessica, and then Andrew also came down with pneumonia. :( Needless to say, it's been a rough month. Many chores, and few people well enough to do them has left us well people (sort of well anyway, I'm getting over a bad cough) well over our heads. Well, well (Pun intended).
#2. New Puppy.
We are very blessed to have an adorable Black Lab puppy in our family now. Jack is so sweet and friendly. And, as you know, puppies require a lot of time: monitoring him to make sure he doesn't chew anything he's not supposed to, taking him outside at all hours of the day and night, feeding, training, exercising etc. All very rewarding, but also time consuming. Add that to a house full of sick people. :/
#3 Practicing for a fiddle contest.
This third weekend in July was the Scottish Highland games in Portland. I got to compete in the fiddle competition there. I got first place in my division. Below is a photo of me in my Scottish garb, holding my trophy (i. e. Very shiny plate ;)
#4 Cheesemaking.
With springtime comes goats kidding. After the kids are weaned at 8 weeks, there is tons of milk. What better thing to do with all the milk than make cheese? :) I've made several different varieties of cheese this summer, Riccotta, always a favorite, mozzarella, and feta, which I had never made before.
As you can see, my life has been crazy, hectic, exceedingly busy and very tiring.
Through it all, I have many things for which to be thankful.
1. I and my parents did NOT come down with pneumonia
2. No one died from pneumonia
3. My Saviour is always there to keep me from becoming too terribly overwhelmed at life's challenges
I hope you enjoyed (or at least were informed) hearing about what I've been up to recently. Hopefully next post can be on just ONE topic. ;)
Thanks for reading!
