I don't know about you, but I am a worrier, and I've realized, that as we grow in years, so do our cares.
Life decisions, my future, money, weather, school, work, in short, how everything will work out, etc. These are all causes to worry.
Worry, stress, anxiety, doubt, and insecurity all stem from one source. When we stop trusting, we start worrying.
Great comfort comes from knowing that God is absolutely sovereign, and that He causes all things to happen for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28).
Think of Job. He was deprived of his children and all his worldly goods in one day, yet, he never cursed God, but blessed and praised him. Even though his own wife urged him to curse God and die, he kept believing that the Lord was sovereign, and that He would provide, which, of course, he did.
Even though Job couldn't see God's plan, or how God would provide, he trusted that God would not forsake His elect.
Here is a quote from James Hudson Taylor, who was a missionary to China in the early 1900's. He understood quite clearly God's sovereignty, and predestination.
"I am no longer anxious about anything, as I realize that He is able to carry out His will for me. It does not matter where He places me or how. That is for Him to consider, not me, for in the easiest positions He will give me grace, and in the most difficult ones His grace is sufficient."
Here also is a quote from Corrie Ten Boom:
"If you look at the world,
you'll be distressed,
If you look within,
You'll be depressed,
But if you look at Christ
You'll be at rest."
May God's name be glorified,
~ Grace ~
